Fatal wrong-way crash on Highway 70 in Sutter County, CHP reports
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday evening on Highway 70 in Sutter County, resulting in the death of one driver, and hospitalization of another driver and a baby, after a collision between a Volkswagen Tiguan and a Toyota Corolla. The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash near Striplin Road, with fog reported in the area at the time. Prior to the collision, a report was received regarding the Volkswagen driving the wrong way on Highway 70. The driver of the Toyota, a male individual, was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the Volkswagen sustained serious injuries. Inside the Volkswagen was a one-year-old infant, whose level of injury remains unknown. Both the woman and the baby were transported to a nearby hospital.
