Fatal UTV crash in Belmont County leaves 72-year-old dead

BELMONT COUNTY, OH (WTRF) - A man died following an ATV crash Saturday in Belmont County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers said the crash happened June 6 on Township Road 101 near State Route 148 in Washington Township. Investigators said a 2009 Yamaha YXR700F driven by 71-year-old Debra Street of Alledonia was traveling eastbound on Township Road 101. Authorities said Ronald Street, 72, of Alledonia, was riding on the UTV with her. According to the highway patrol, the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a turn and struck a railroad crossing sign. The UTV overturned, partially ejecting Ronald Street, officials said. Both Ronald Street and Debra Street suffered serious injuries and were flown by STAT MedEvac to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment. Troopers said Ronald Street later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Officials said neither Ronald Street nor Debra Street was wearing safety equipment at the time of the crash. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
