Fatal tractor-trailer crash in Rutland County.
A man from Rutland, Vermont has passed away as a result of a collision in Pittsford on Saturday morning. Vermont State Police reported that the incident happened around 5:15 a.m. on U.S. Route 7 near Giddings Lane. According to initial investigations, a tractor-trailer traveling northbound had its trailer detach and come to a halt on the road. The driver stopped and got out of the vehicle to attempt to reattach the trailer when a GMC Acadia traveling in the same direction collided with the detached trailer. The GMC Acadia driver, identified as Christopher Cyr, aged 54, was pronounced deceased at the location. The tractor-trailer driver was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center for suspected minor injuries. Vermont State Police received support from the Regional Ambulance Service, the Pittsford Fire Department, and Pittsford First Response during the incident.
