Fatal pedestrian accident on PCH in Malibu.
A tragic incident occurred on Monday night in Malibu when a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Pacific Coast Highway near Winding Way around 7:30 p.m. Lieutenant Aaron Jacob of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. Initial investigations suggest that drugs, alcohol, or speeding were not factors in the collision. The investigation is ongoing, and all lanes of PCH between East Winding Way and West Winding Way were temporarily closed before reopening after several hours. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released. Malibu has been working diligently to address road safety on PCH, although fatal incidents have occurred beyond the city limits. Tragic incidents, such as the deaths of four Pepperdine students in 2023 and another fatality in a car-to-car head-on collision in 2024, underscore the ongoing challenges of ensuring safety on this scenic highway. Just last month in Ventura County, two individuals lost their lives when their vehicle veered off the road and down a steep cliff.
