Fatal motorcycle crash claims life of 23-year-old in Oswegatchie
TOWN OF OSWEGATCHIE, N.Y. (WWTI) - A 23-year-old Brier Hill man was killed as a result of injuries he sustained after a late Saturday night crash. Around 11 p.m. Saturday, New York State Police responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle on State Highway 37 in the town of Oswegatchie. An investigation allegedly found that a blue 2007 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by Austin L. Thomas, and a white 2010 Mercury passenger vehicle, operated by 56-year-old Christine Best, of Ogdensburg, were both traveling west on State Highway 37 when the motorcycle struck the rear of the vehicle, ejecting Thomas from the motorcycle. Emergency medical crews arrived on scene and immediately started life-saving measures on Thomas. Despite those efforts, the St. Lawrence County Coroner responded to the scene and pronounced Thomas deceased. He was subsequently removed from the scene. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center at 2:30 p.m. on June 16. The investigation is ongoing, according to state police.
