Fatal Lynchburg car crash involving bicyclist under investigation
LYNCHBURG, Va. (WFXR) - The Lynchburg Police Department (LPD) is investigating a deadly car crash after a bicyclist was fatally injured Saturday evening. At around 5:35 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, members of the LPD and Lynchburg Fire Department (LFD) responded to Monroe and 10th streets on reports of a car crash. A man riding a bike and an SUV were involved in the crash, authorities said. The driver of the SUV stayed on scene and cooperated with LPD. The bicyclist was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital by LFD, where he died of his injuries, according to law enforcement. The LPD Traffic Safety Unit is investigating the incident.
