Fatal head-on crash involving car, semi-truck in Pennsylvania
WASHINGTON COUNTY, Pa. — One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a head-on crash involving a car and a tractor-trailer on Interstate 70 in Washington County. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on westbound I-70 between the Taylorstown and Claysville exits. Troopers said a Ford Focus traveling eastbound crossed the grass median and entered oncoming traffic before crashing head-on into a westbound tractor-trailer heading toward the state line. According to CBS affiliate KDKA, the driver of the Ford Focus was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not been released. Police said the tractor-trailer driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. PennDOT said the crash temporarily shut down the roadway. Westbound traffic has since reopened to one lane. State police said the investigation is continuing with help from collision analysis and reconstruction specialists and forensic service units.
