Fatal head-on collision on West Vandalia Road in Greensboro
One man was killed and another was injured in a collision on Wednesday afternoon in Greensboro. Police, fire, and EMS teams arrived at the scene on West Vandalia Road near Gar Place following a report at approximately 1:38 p.m. The driver identified as Paul Irvin Bigelow Jr. was traveling east on West Vandalia Road when his vehicle crossed the double yellow line and struck the vehicle driven by John Michael Barrett traveling west. Unfortunately, Bigelow Jr. lost his life at the scene, while Barrett sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. The incident is under investigation by the Greensboro Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit, who suspect that excessive speed played a role in the tragic crash.
