Fatal head-on collision on Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu
A tragic collision occurred on a segment of the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu Thursday night, resulting in the death of two individuals and leaving another seriously injured. The California Highway Patrol reported that the incident took place at approximately 6:55 p.m. on December 4th near Deer Creek Road. A Dodge Charger being driven northbound by a 25-year-old man veered across the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, colliding head-on with a Chevrolet Tahoe operated by a 53-year-old man. Both drivers were unresponsive upon the arrival of emergency responders and were later declared deceased at the scene. A passenger in the Charger sustained significant injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The aftermath of the crash displayed one vehicle engulfed in flames, drawing response from various firefighting units. The accident, prompting the closure of both directions of the highway, is believed to involve alcohol, according to CHP. Despite all occupants wearing seatbelts, no arrests have been made. Following a three-hour closure, the roadway reopened around 10:10 p.m. after the completion of investigation and cleanup efforts.
