Fatal DUI crash in Salinas injures 2 drivers.
The California Highway Patrol has reported a fatal collision between Salinas and Castroville on Sunday night. The incident involved a Nissan sedan driven by a 33-year-old man from Oklahoma and a Ford SUV driven by a 45-year-old man from Salinas. Tragically, a passenger in the Ford, identified as Melanie Manalac, 45, lost her life in the crash. Both drivers sustained major injuries and were taken to local hospitals. The crash occurred on Espinosa Road, with the Nissan crossing into oncoming traffic and colliding head-on with the Ford. The CHP mentioned that alcohol is suspected to have played a role in the accident, and investigations are ongoing.
