Fatal dirt bike crash under investigation in Darke County
HOLLANSBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – One person is dead, and an investigation is underway after a dirt bike crash in Darke County in the early hours of Friday, June 26. According to the Piqua Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers were called out to Richmond Palestine Road just before 1:30 a.m. On arrival, they found that one dirt bike was traveling north when it was struck by a dirt bike that was traveling left and south of the center lane. The first dirt bike, driven by 21-year-old Ian Dixon, continued north and traveled off the roadway. Dixon later died from his injuries. The second bike also traveled off the roadway, and the driver was flown to the hospital with serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and alcohol, speed, and helmet usage are suspected factors in the crash.
