Fatal crash on NC-32 claims two lives, injures infant

WASHINGTON COUNTY, N.C. (WNCT) -- The North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle collision on NC-32 in Washington County, where two people were pronounced dead. Officials said that troopers responded at approximately 11:42 on April 1, and it was determined Harry Spruill, 42, of Plymouth, was driving north on NC-32 with two passengers in a Ford passenger car, when the car crossed the centerline and collided with an empty freightliner grain truck traveling southbound. According to the NCSHP, Spruill and one passenger, Whitney Spruill, 37, were pronounced deceased at the scene. The second passenger, an infant, was transported to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the freightliner was not injured.
