Fatal crash on icy Wisconsin highway
A tragic incident occurred in Scott, Wisconsin, where a 26-year-old woman lost her life in a three-vehicle collision early Tuesday morning. The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash took place on U.S. Highway 61 near Bear Cave Lane in the Town of Scott. Details revealed that a 34-year-old man from Sparta was driving an SUV southbound with passenger Kristen Howell when he lost control, veered across the center line, and crashed into a northbound box truck. Howell, ejected from the SUV, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Another SUV, driven by a 26-year-old woman from Shullsburg, hit the disabled vehicle during the incident. The Sparta man sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, the box truck driver suffered minor injuries, and the Shullsburg woman remained unharmed. Officials indicated that icy road conditions likely played a significant role in the accident, prompting a five-hour closure of U.S. Highway 61 for crash reconstruction.
