Fatal crash on I-57 causes multiple casualties

During the morning rush hour, all northbound lanes on I-57 were closed due to a multi-car crash that resulted in three fatalities and five injuries. The incident occurred just after midnight near 120th Street in Calumet City. A secondary collision involving a vehicle not part of the initial crash led to the deaths of three individuals who were outside their vehicles. Additionally, five others sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals. Traffic was diverted to the 99th Street exit ramp while the lanes were closed, reopening at 7:49 a.m. Witnesses reported an aggressive driver potentially responsible for the crash, with reports of a black vehicle traveling at high speeds.
