Fatal Crash On Hwy. 8 Under Investigation In Rusk County
RUSK COUNTY — A pickup truck crash on Hwy. 8 claimed the life of a Ladysmith man early Tuesday morning, according to the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office. PRESS RELEASE On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at about 4:40AM the Rusk County Dispatch Center received a 911 call about a single vehicle crash on Hwy 8 near Bell School Rd. When deputies arrived, they found a pickup that had crossed the centerline and entered the ditch. The truck then struck a driveway culvert, causing it to go airborne, and struck a power pole. Deputies attempted to remove the driver by breaking the truck's windows, but the driver had to be extracted by Ladysmith Fire. The lone occupant and driver of the vehicle has been identified as Jason Davis, 53yrs old from Ladysmith, WI, and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Rusk County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ladysmith Fire Department, Ladysmith Ambulance, and the Rusk County Medical Examiner's Office.
