Fatal crash on Hwy 14 in Mojave injures 3, claims child's life

A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon along Highway 14 in Mojave, where a 6-year-old child was ejected from a vehicle and sadly did not survive. Three others in the vehicle, including two other children, sustained injuries in the crash. The collision took place around 12:41 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Highway 14 north of Phillips Road. The driver, a 40-year-old woman, lost control of the Chevrolet Tahoe causing it to overturn into the center median. The driver and the two other children, aged 9 and 11, were hospitalized for treatment. The identity of the deceased child will be released by the Kern County Coroner's Office in due time.
