Fatal crash near Beatty involving semi truck closes Nevada highway
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- An early morning crash involving a semi and a tow truck killed two drivers near Beatty, Nevada, on Thursday. According to the Nevada Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, on U.S. 95 near mile marker 73 in Nye County. The crash was located around 13 miles north of Beatty, Nevada. Police said the collision involved a semi tractor-trailer and a tow truck. The drivers of both vehicles were confirmed dead at the scene. Police said both the north and southbound lanes were closed at mile marker 73 and are expected to be closed for several hours. NSP said drivers can use the following alternate routes: Northbound traffic can take U.S. 93 through Alamo, Nevada, then take Highway 318 to Highway 375, then cut across to U.S. 6 westbound into Tonapah, NV. Southbound traffic out of Tonopah, Nevada, should take U.S. 6 eastbound to Highway 375 to Highway 318, then to U.S. 93 into Alamo, Nevada. No further details were released at the time of publication.
