Fatal crash involving stolen car in Shelton
A man from Bridgeport tragically lost his life as a result of a crash on Route 8 in Shelton on Monday that caused the highway to be closed for several hours. The incident occurred around 9:08 a.m. when a 20-year-old, Oliver Armando Cruz-Ortiz, driving an Infiniti Q50, veered off the road, hitting a light pole and metal sign before overturning. Cruz-Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene. The vehicle had been reported stolen by its owner to the Newark, New Jersey police department before the crash. The details of the crash are still being investigated.
