Fatal crash in Whiteside County: 1 dead, 2 injured
A fatal collision occurred in Whiteside County last night, resulting in one fatality and two people seriously injured. The Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department reported that there was a crash involving two vehicles on Illinois Route 84 near Spring Valley Road at around 9:21 p.m. All occupants were severely injured and were taken to MercyOne Hospital in Clinton for treatment. Tragically, one of the drivers passed away from their injuries. The other two occupants sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of those involved have not yet been disclosed out of respect for their families. The area was closed for about five hours for emergency response and investigative purposes, as the Whiteside County Sheriff's Office Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit continues to look into the incident. Multiple emergency response teams and agencies, including Thomson Fire and Ambulance, Fulton Fire and Ambulance, Clinton Fire Department Ambulance, Fulton Police Department, Illinois State Police Troop 1, Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit, and Downtown Auto Clinic, collaborated on-site to manage the situation.
