Fatal Crash in Southwest Houston Involving Amazon Truck
Authorities are currently investigating a tragic collision involving an Amazon vehicle that occurred in southwest Houston on Friday night. The incident took place on the SH-288 feeder road near South Sam Houston Parkway West just before 11 p.m. According to reports, a surveillance video revealed that the Amazon vehicle ran a red light and collided with a sedan whose driver was said to not have been wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Tragically, the sedan driver, identified as a Black man perhaps in his late 20s or early 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Despite the Amazon driver claiming to have had a yellow light, the dash camera footage from the truck indicated a red light. It is speculated that the Amazon driver may have been temporarily disoriented by adjacent traffic lights showing green. As of now, no charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing, with no identities confirmed for those involved in the accident.
