Fatal crash in Peoria County kills 65-year-old driver
The top law enforcement official in South Peoria County reported that a 65-year-old man passed away after allegedly disregarding a stop sign at an intersection. Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins shared additional details about the tragic accident, which took place near Glasford Road and Glasford-Canton Road. The collision occurred on a Saturday afternoon at 4:03 p.m. when the man's northbound vehicle failed to stop at the intersection and was struck by another vehicle traveling west on Glasford-Canton Road. Unfortunately, the driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The emergency response team from Timber-Hollis Fire Protection District and Peoria County Sheriff’s Office arrived to assist. Authorities have not disclosed the name of the victim, and attempts to contact Coroner Jamie Harwood have been unsuccessful.
