Fatal crash in Menifee as car hits light pole and ignites
A fatal crash occurred in Menifee on Sunday morning when a vehicle collided with a light pole, leading to the death of one person, as reported by the Menifee Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. near Lindenberger Road and Scott Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle engulfed in flames. Firefighters from Cal Fire Riverside County promptly responded to extinguish the fire. According to a witness account provided to the Menifee police, the car was traveling east on Scott Road when it veered off onto the south side of the road and hit the light pole, resulting in an immediate fire. Tragically, the driver was unable to escape the vehicle. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed yet, was found deceased in the driver's seat once the flames were fully extinguished, a process that proved challenging due to the electric car's batteries. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident, and anyone with additional information is encouraged to reach out to Menifee police at (951) 723-1500.
