Fatal crash in Kenosha County involves multiple horses and a pickup truck.
Six horses died in a collision with a pickup truck in Kenosha County early Monday morning, December 22. The driver, a 67-year-old man from Antioch, Illinois, was heading to work in Kenosha when the accident occurred on County Highway WG near the Wisconsin-Illinois border. The pickup truck struck several horses, causing significant damage to the vehicle, although the driver himself was unharmed. Authorities stated that there were no signs of impairment or excessive speed contributing to the crash. The horses, which had escaped from a local resident's property, tragically passed away as a result of the incident. While five horses died at the scene, the sixth was later euthanized due to its injuries. The property owners removed the deceased horses and will handle their burial on the farm property. The Sheriff's Office emphasized that rural roads, especially in low-visibility conditions, can pose unexpected dangers. The investigation remains ongoing, and citations related to the incident are pending. Sheriff David Zoerner expressed condolences for the loss and praised the quick response of deputies to ensure public safety during the incident.
