Teen girl critically injured in crash with truck on 441 west of Delray Beach
A teenage driver was critically injured Tuesday morning after her car collided with the rear of a truck on U.S. Highway 441, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office. The crash happened at 10:32 a.m. June 9 in the 14000 block of U.S. Highway 441, also known as State Road 7. According to investigators, a 2023 Peterbilt 567 was traveling eastbound from the entrance and exit of Pero Family Farms and was turning left to head northbound on U.S. 441. Because of the truck’s length, the rear of the vehicle remained partially in the inside southbound lane, the sheriff’s office said. A 2023 Hyundai Sonata, driven by 17-year-old Fabiana Natalia Torres Motta, was traveling southbound in the inside lane and approaching the farm’s entrance and exit when the front left side of the Hyundai struck the rear left portion of the truck. After the impact, investigators said the Hyundai continued southeast onto the center median, crossed the northbound lanes and hit a guardrail along the eastern shoulder. The car was then redirected southwest before coming to rest partially in the bicycle lane and northbound right-turn lane.
