Fatal crash in Dodge County with semi and 2 SUVs; Brookfield woman killed
The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is currently looking into a multi-vehicle collision that occurred in the Township of Leroy on Wednesday morning, Dec. 10. Tragically, a Brookfield woman lost her life in the accident. The incident took place on State Highway 49 near County Highway YY around 8:30 a.m. that day. Reports indicate that a semi and trailer were heading east on State Highway 49. A Toyota RAV-4, driven by a 48-year-old Brookfield woman, was traveling west on the same highway behind a Dodge County Highway Department plow truck clearing snow. Another vehicle, a Toyota Highlander driven by a 63-year-old man from Campbellsport, was also westbound on State Highway 49 behind the RAV-4. The investigation revealed that the Brookfield woman lost control of her vehicle, crossed the center line, and collided with the semi. The impact caused the RAV-4 to hit the Toyota Highlander. Emergency services took the semi driver to Waupun Hospital for evaluation, while the Toyota Highlander driver was transported to Froedtert Hospital in West Bend for non-life-threatening injuries. Sadly, the RAV-4 driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Dodge County Medical Examiner's Office. The names of those involved are being kept confidential until their families are notified. Highway 49 was temporarily shut down between County Highway YY to the south and north during the investigation but has since reopened.
