Fatal crash in Barry County leaves two dead, one injured
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is currently looking into a tragic incident that occurred late Friday night in Barry County, Missouri, resulting in the loss of two lives and serious injuries to another individual. The crash, reported by MSHP, happened on Stallion Bluff Road, around three miles north of Shell Knob, at approximately 10:52 p.m. on Dec. 5. The accident involved a single vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, which veered off the road, hit a tree, and flipped over. Two Shell Knob residents, a 48-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were declared deceased at the scene, while a passenger from Franklin, Nebraska, sustained severe injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. None of the occupants were wearing seat belts, confirms MSHP. The authorities, led by Sgt. Mike McClure, are still probing the incident to determine the driver among the three occupants involved in the crash. Tragically, these casualties mark the 123rd and 124th fatalities in MSHP Troop D in 2025.
