Fatal crash backs up I-29 traffic near Harrisburg exit
UPDATED 4:39 p.m.: SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- A fatal crash impacted travel on Interstate 29 just south of Sioux Falls Tuesday afternoon, the South Dakota Department of Public Safety said. The DPS said the crash happened at 11:38 a.m. Tuesday four miles south of Sioux Falls on I-29. DPS said a 47-year-old man died in the crash but a name is not being released pending family notification. Traffic backed up on I-29 northbound between the Harrisburg and Lennox exits. KELOLAND News captured this photo of the rollover crash. Authorities said the GMC Denali was driving northbound when it drifted into the median and vaulted off a culvert and began to roll. The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The crash remains under investigation.
