Fatal collision near Fort Lowell Rd. and Alvernon Way
On the evening of January 18, 2026, officers in Operations Division Midtown received a call about a collision on the 4000 block of East Fort Lowell Road. Tucson Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and assessed those involved. Sadly, 28-year-old Angela Marie King, the driver of a red 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage, was pronounced dead. Her family has been informed of her passing. Another vehicle involved was a black 2017 Jeep Wrangler, driven by a 23-year-old male with a 17-year-old male passenger who fled on foot after the collision. Thanks to the efforts of law enforcement and support from K9 and air units, they were located nearby. Further investigation is being conducted by Traffic Detectives. Evidence and witness accounts revealed that Ms. King was heading east on Fort Lowell Road when the Jeep, speeding beyond the limit, crossed into her lane and hit her head-on. The occupants of the Jeep were taken to Banner University Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening. The investigation is ongoing, and charges are pending the completion of medical treatment and additional tests.
