Fatal collision between truck and Downeaster train in North Berwick.
The North Berwick Police Department chief informed reporters that a fatal collision occurred between a pickup truck and an Amtrak Downeaster train on Thursday. The incident took place on Route 4, also known as Elm Street, near Buffum Road. Sadly, the driver of the truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, there were no other individuals in the truck. The collision caused delays for Amtrak Downeaster Train 686, leading to it being behind schedule for about 2 hours and 40 minutes. The road was closed for over three hours but was reopened for traffic at around 6:20 p.m.
