A tragic incident occurred in Chicago's Avondale neighborhood early Monday morning, resulting in the death of one woman and the hospitalization of another. The two women were traveling in a black sedan in the 3800 block of West Diversey Avenue when the driver, aged 31, lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a parked car and then colliding with a semi-trailer truck traveling in the opposite direction. The passenger, also 31, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in stable condition, while the truck driver was unharmed. Traffic citations were anticipated, and road closures were in place between Avers and Hamlin avenues. Alternate routes were recommended to commuters.
