Fatal car crash claims life of Blount County Sheriff’s deputy
Blount County Sheriff's Office Deputy Justin Mowery, aged 30, tragically passed away in a car accident while on duty, according to Sheriff James Lee Berrong. The sheriff expressed deep sadness over this loss, stating the impact it has on Deputy Mowery's loved ones, colleagues, the agency, and the community. He commended the quick response from the Tennessee Highway Patrol and mentioned the collaborative efforts to investigate the accident. Deputy Mowery had previously worked as a security officer at the University of Tennessee Medical Center before joining the regional training academy in October 2020 and later serving as a patrol deputy. In December 2021, he was selected for the SWAT team. Sheriff Berrong requested prayers for Deputy Mowery's family and all the deputies during this difficult time.
