Fatal car accident in Riverside County due to collision with pole resulting in fire
An individual lost their life in a tragic incident early Sunday morning in Riverside County when an electric car crashed into a streetlight pole and caught fire. The accident occurred in Menifee at approximately 12:26 a.m., following reports from a witness who observed the vehicle colliding with the pole and igniting. The Menifee Police Department responded to the scene on Lindenberger Road and Scott Road to find a Mercedes-Benz ablaze. The witness reported the car veering off course while heading eastbound on Scott Road, resulting in the collision with the pole near the intersection. Despite efforts by Cal Fire crews to extinguish the flames, the burning process was prolonged due to the car's electric battery. Identification of the victim is pending, with the Riverside County Coroner's Office aiding in the investigation. Authorities are currently looking into the circumstances surrounding the crash and have yet to ascertain the contributing factors.
