Fatal Berkeley freeway motorcycle accident
A motorcyclist tragically lost their life in a collision on the I-80 freeway in Berkeley on Sunday afternoon. California Highway Patrol responded to the incident just after 3:05 p.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway, close to University Avenue. The motorcycle rider was thrown from their bike and fatally injured on the westbound side. Authorities determined that the crash involved the motorcycle, an Acura TSX, and a Honda Accord, and investigations are ongoing. There is no suspicion of alcohol or drugs playing a role in the accident. Several lanes on both sides of the freeway were closed for investigation and were anticipated to reopen by 7 p.m.
