Fatal Belmont County ATV crash under investigation; troopers say alcohol not suspected

A 72-year-old Alledonia man died after a serious ATV crash Saturday in Belmont County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Troopers responded to Township Road 101 near State Route 148 in Washington Township for a serious injury crash involving a 2009 Yamaha YXR700F. The patrol said 71-year-old Debra Street, of Alledonia, was driving eastbound on Township Road 101 with 72-year-old Ronald Street, riding in the UTV. While negotiating a turn, the UTV traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a railroad crossing sign. The vehicle overturned, ejecting Debra Street and partially ejecting Ronald Street. Both were seriously injured and were flown to UPMC Hospital in Pittsburgh, the patrol said. Ronald Street later succumbed to his injuries that afternoon. Assisting at the scene were the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, STAT MedEvac and the Smith Township Volunteer Fire Department. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.
