Fatal accident on Rivers Avenue near Goose Creek

One person passed away on Wednesday in North Charleston, South Carolina after a driver lost control on Rivers Avenue near Goose Creek, leading to a collision with an 18-wheeler. The impact caused diesel fuel to leak, and emergency responders were called to the scene around 10 a.m. Investigators determined that a vehicle traveling east from Goose Creek lost control and crashed into a commercial vehicle at N.A.D. Road. The collision resulted in a significant diesel fuel spill. One occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the site by first responders. Teams from the SC Department of Environmental Services and the SC Department of Transportation were brought in to clean up the spill. The NCPD’s Traffic Unit and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office are overseeing the investigation, and the deceased individual has not been publicly identified yet. Charleston County deputies aided in directing traffic while the cleanup took place, and the roadway was shut down for a few hours until the investigation and cleanup were completed. The road is now open to traffic.
