Fatal accident on Oregon highway due to pedestrian crossing in unlit zone

According to Oregon State Police, a 39-year-old man from Pendleton tragically lost his life last week when he was hit by a vehicle while crossing Hwy 395A in a dark area. The incident occurred on December 11 around 5:15 a.m. near milepost 2 in Umatilla County. The victim, identified as Tony McCorkindale, was pronounced dead at the scene. Oregon State Police noted that the highway was closed for about four hours as authorities investigated the accident.
