Fatal accident on I-840 in Rutherford County
A tragic incident took place Wednesday night on Interstate 840 Westbound in Rutherford County, resulting in the loss of a pedestrian's life. The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported that the collision occurred at around 7:14 p.m. near the 56 mile marker, involving two vehicles. The pedestrian, identified as 63-year-old Denise J. Bradley, sadly passed away. Charges for one of the drivers are pending as the investigation continues. The crash occurred when a 2019 Honda Pilot collided with a 2006 Toyota Corolla, which had been partially obstructing the roadway due to a prior accident, striking the pedestrian standing nearby before coming to a halt on the median. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, though the incident led to the closure of Interstate 840 West for several hours, with emergency vehicles blocking the left Eastbound lane temporarily as well.
