Fatal Accident on I-695 in Baltimore County
A tragic accident occurred on Thursday night on Interstate 695 in Baltimore County, resulting in the death of a man who stopped to assist a stranded driver. Maryland State Police reported that a Toyota stalled in the left lane with its hazard lights on, prompting Faith Tingen Tikum, 28, to stop and help in her Honda. As both drivers were outside their vehicles, a BMW collided with the Toyota, causing the Honda to strike Tikum and the other driver. Tikum later passed away in the hospital. The Toyota driver, Pavert Ngeh, 23, and the BMW driver, Mariah Coren Mason-Johnson, 28, sustained injuries and were hospitalized. Authorities suspect impairment may have been a contributing factor to the crash, which led to a three-hour closure of the outer loop of I-695. Pending the results of the investigation, charges may be brought against those involved.
