Fatal accident: Iowa man struck by truck after running into road
Local officials have reported that a man from Winterset passed away after being hit by a pickup truck on Highway 169 in Madison County. The incident occurred around 10:45 p.m. last Saturday near East Madison Street in Winterset. According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, the 23-year-old victim, Logan Smith, ran onto the roadway from the east ditch, crossed the northbound lane, and collided with the side of a southbound Ford F250 driven by an 18-year-old from Afton. Smith was declared deceased at the scene, and the authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
