Fatal accident at Fox Lake intersection.
A fatal accident occurred in Fox Lake on Friday morning when a two-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Rollins Road around 7:15 a.m. The crash involved a black Lexus SUV and a tan Chrysler minivan. Tragically, a 78-year-old woman from Fox Lake, the driver of the minivan, was found unconscious and unresponsive inside the vehicle. Despite efforts by responding paramedics from the Fox Lake Fire Protection District to save her, she was pronounced dead at Northwestern McHenry Hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the minivan struck the stopped Lexus at a red light. Both occupants of the Lexus, minors, escaped injury. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, with the cause of the woman's death pending an autopsy by the McHenry County Coroner's Office.
