Family tragedy: 2 children hurt as car hits tree in El Dorado County
Two individuals lost their lives and their children were injured in a single-vehicle accident in El Dorado County on Sunday, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The incident occurred when a vehicle collided with a tree on Highway 50, east of Kyburz, at approximately 3:11 p.m. The car passengers, an 8-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl, sustained serious injuries. Rescue efforts took several hours to extricate the kids from the wreckage. Tragically, the parents of the children were pronounced deceased at the crash site. Highway 50 was briefly shut down in the vicinity but has since resumed normal operations.
