Family of 4 Victims in Helicopter Crash Near Superior Identified

New details have emerged about the tragic helicopter crash that occurred east of the Valley. The accident took place on Jan. 2 in a remote area near Superior after departing from Pegasus Airpark. Unfortunately, all four individuals on board lost their lives. Eyewitnesses reported witnessing the helicopter's blades separating prior to the crash. The preliminary investigation suggests that a recreational slackline may have been a factor in the incident, as the chopper reportedly struck part of the line before plummeting into a canyon. The victims have been identified as David McCarty, a Queen Creek resident originally from Oregon, along with his nieces Katelyn Heideman, Rachel, and Faith McCarty, all in their early twenties. The group was out sightseeing on what should have been McCarty's wedding day. The families are devastated by the tragic loss, as they grapple with the unexpected turn of events. The entire community in Echo, Oregon, where the family hails from, is deeply affected by the news. Investigations by the FAA and NTSB are ongoing to determine the official cause of the crash.
