Family mourns young father killed in high-speed Porter Ranch crash

A local family is mourning the loss of a young father who was killed in a fiery crash in Porter Ranch last week. The crash occurred around 10 a.m. on Mar. 8 in the 10500 block of Tampa Avenue and involved a single car, a 2015 Acura sedan, that collided with a pole before catching fire. First responders rushed to the area and extricated two occupants of the Acura, but a third occupant – listed by police as a passenger in the vehicle – was pronounced dead at the scene.   Authorities did not immediately release the name of the decedent, but family members who spoke to KTLA identified him as Rafa Ramirez.  Ramirez is described in a GoFundMe as “a bright light...joyful, positive and always so thoughtful” who, even at his young age, worked incredibly hard to provide for his growing family. A father to a young boy named Lucas, his wife Jaina is also expecting another son, the fundraiser says. Jaina’s father, Jim Richardson, called the crash “the absolute worst day of our lives.” “She now has to raise a 3-year-old and is pregnant, due in July,” Richardson said. “And without their father and her husband, she is going to need help to provide a home and life for them.”  Los Angeles police eventually confirmed that the man behind the wheel of the car, Ernesto Ramos, would be facing charges in connection with the deadly incident. The charges against Ramos, 23, were not immediately clear.
