Family, friends remember man killed in I-25 crash
DENVER (KDVR) — Family and friends gathered on Saturday to remember a man killed in a crash on Interstate 25 last month in a part of the highway that has seen many crashes in recent years. If you ask people who knew Skylar Fox best to summarize the person he was, they’ll tell you it isn’t easy. “It’s not because there’s nothing that comes to mind, it’s because there’s so much,” Brittany Cup said. Perhaps the rainbow that shined down on the Ride for Sky memorial motorcycle ride Saturday afternoon tells you all you need to know. He was a beacon of light in his community. “He was an amazing man. He was an amazing friend. He was the kind of person that was there, that would help anyone whether he knew you or not,” Culp said. Fox’s wife, Catlin, says the two just got married last June after being together for almost eight years. “We just were starting and it got taken from me and from Harly,” Catlin said. Harlyn is the couple’s daughter, and Catlin says Skylar was an amazing father to her. “He was just always, you know, watching out for her and he was always taking the time to, like, teach her things,” Catlin said. Fox was killed in early March when CSP says a van collided with his truck on I-25 near Mead in a construction zone. CSP data shows 379 crashes happened in the area just in 2025 alone. Fox’s friends want people to slow down. “If you need to manage your time better, that’s on you. It’s not on everyone else that’s trying to get home as well,” Culp said. All of it in hopes that other families never have to lose their beacons of light either. “They could have a family in that car. They could have babies in there. Or, no matter what, somebody always has someone to go home to,” Catlin said. Fox’s family is still looking for witnesses to the crash to come forward to police with just what happened back on the night of the crash. They ask that if you saw anything that night, you contact Colorado State Patrol.
