EPD officer cited following fatal crash
An officer from the City of Erie Police Department has been cited after a crash that killed another driver. According to GoErie, officer Shawn Stafford faces summary counts of careless driving, unintentional death and failure to stop at a red signal. That accident happened at the intersection of West 11th and Sassafras streets on September 12. At the time of the accident, the officer suffered minor injuries, and a homeless pedestrian was also injured. Chief Rick Lorah said this is a personnel issue and cannot comment on the citation. We are waiting for a response from the district attorney's office regarding this matter.
