Elkhart man faces charges after car crashes into buggy

An Elkhart man is facing charges after police say he crashed into a horse-drawn buggy and left the scene. The driver of the buggy was taken to the hospital for his injuries. This happened on State Road 13 at County Road 24, just south of Middlebury, on Tuesday. According to the police, 66-year-old Edward Herr was following the buggy too closely in his pick-up truck when he hit the back of the buggy, causing it to flip on its side. Police arrested Herr on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated and leaving the scene of the crash that caused injury.
