Driver's arrest follows closure of Kettering Boulevard due to fatal wrong-way crash
A tragic incident occurred in Dayton, Ohio, where one individual lost their life and another was arrested following a driver allegedly fleeing from a traffic stop. The driver went the wrong way on Kettering Boulevard and collided head-on with another vehicle. The crash took place around 11:50 a.m. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, and a confirmed fatality was reported by our 2 NEWS photographer on site. Authorities have closed down Kettering Boulevard from Dorothy Lane to Encrete and are advising drivers to seek alternate routes. Law enforcement officials from the Moraine Police Department provided details on the incident. Initial attempts to stop a blue Jeep SUV near S.R. 741 and Kettering Boulevard were made, but the driver evaded law enforcement by speeding in the wrong direction on Kettering Boulevard. The pursuit was called off, and unfortunately, the Jeep eventually collided with another vehicle roughly 1.5 miles away. Numerous witnesses reported the crash, and efforts were made to locate the driver who fled the scene. Two individuals sustained injuries, with one passenger from the Jeep and the other driver receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle that was hit did not survive. The identity of the deceased is being withheld until their family is notified. The driver of the Jeep was apprehended near a local business and is currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital.
