Driver with extensive criminal record caused fatal crash on Highway 83
Authorities identified the man behind the tragic crash on Highway 83 near Franktown as Walter Huling, who was on parole and had a lengthy criminal record dating back to at least 2013. Multiple sources confirmed Huling, 31, was driving a stolen Toyota Matrix hatchback when the collision occurred, resulting in his and four others' deaths. The victims were named as Alvin Corado, Toretto Corado, Makenlee Corado, and Jase Green. Huling, who had a history of arrests including assault and parole violations, had just stolen the vehicle from RTD's Nine Mile station before the crash. District Attorney George Brauchler expressed concern over the system that allowed someone like Huling to be back on the streets. Public records show that Huling had a criminal history dating back to his teenage years, with multiple arrests and prison sentences. Denver7 Investigates has reached out to the Colorado Department of Corrections for further details on Huling's parole status. Brauchler emphasized the need for accountability and questions to ensure public safety in the wake of this tragic incident.
