Driver vanishes after deadly hit-and-run near Hollywood Freeway
A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash near a freeway off-ramp in North Hollywood early Wednesday morning, authorities confirmed. The collision happened around 1:50 a.m. near Magnolia Boulevard and the southbound Hollywood Freeway off-ramp, just steps from the North Hollywood Recreation Center, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Firefighters with the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead. LAPD said the driver involved in the crash fled in an unknown direction. Information about the suspect vehicle was not immediately available. Video from the scene showed officers blocking off lanes near the off-ramp as investigators examined debris scattered across the roadway. A damaged vehicle remained at the scene, though it was unclear whether it was directly involved in the crash. Authorities have not publicly identified the victim. Police also said it remains unclear whether the person was experiencing homelessness. The investigation is ongoing.
