Driver suspected of DUI in Provo collision resulting in pedestrian fatality, per police
A pedestrian tragically lost his life in Provo when he was struck by a pickup truck while crossing the road at 920 S. 100 West. The victim, Mario Valer, 80, was critically injured and later succumbed to his injuries at Utah Valley Hospital. The driver, Jason Phillips, 42, from Pleasant Grove, was arrested for investigation of DUI and automobile homicide.
